Master Key Home Place is supporting the ENERGY STAR program for new homes by participating in the cost, making all aspects available easily, and drawing together local suppliers to maximize value and make it easier to create an energy efficient home.

The ENERGY STAR program is an all encompassing home energy conservation program, which certifies that a home is much more energy efficient than a standard home.

NEW HOMES
For the new home, the process is an inspection and test approach during house planning and construction. The steps include:

1. Building plan review to ensure energy efficient features are included.
2. Recommendation on foundation for proper insulation.
3. On site inspection of walls to ensure proper insulation.
4. Final on site test of house to evaluate tightness and duct efficiency.
5. Attaching a plaque to the home that certifies it as an ENERGY STAR home.

Master Key Home Place will pay ½ of the cost of the inspection process when a commitment is made to build an ENERGY STAR home.

LOCAL PARTNERS
In addition, the following local partners are working to improve the value for ENERGY STAR homes at Master Key Home Place. Because the home is usually less expensive to operate and more attractive to resell, appraisals may be higher.

The electric utility at the Home Place is Callaway Electric Co-Op. They are offering $850.00 per ton of heat pump capacity as a rebate for ENERGY STAR compliant heating and cooling equipment.
